A Very Personal Story: What to Do When Everything Falls Apart

Hello,

I want to share something a bit personal with you. Eight years ago, my life flipped upside down.

It started with sharp pain in my left leg. The kind you can’t ignore. The kind that keeps you up at night.

One thing led to another: Tests, doctors, hospitals...

And then the diagnosis.

Cancer. Not just any cancer: Stage 4 aggressive non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

It had spread everywhere. Lymph nodes, liver, spleen, even the bone marrow in my leg.

Total shock. In one moment, everything I thought I knew was no longer true.

But slowly, between treatments and fear, Between pain and hope, Things started to click.

I realized two things:

I love life. Truly. And I’ll do whatever it takes to keep living.

My chances of recovery... weren’t great. It looked like I didn’t have much time.

So I chose a path. A strange, paradoxical one.

On one side: deep acceptance. If I have to say goodbye, I’ll be ready. But on the other: taking full responsibility. Doing everything I could to stay.

My family says I gave them strength during that time. And honestly? I felt like I had superpowers. (No, I didn’t try to break rocks with my eyes, but I might’ve been able to 😉)

In the end, it worked. I’m here. Healthy. Smiling. Writing to you.

And this story, this “success method”, I’ve used it in many other moments since. It became a mindset. And that’s what I wanted to share with you.

How can we take that same approach, And use it in other challenging moments?

You don’t need cancer. You don’t need a crisis. A job interview, a rocky relationship, a business decision: These can all shake us.

But here’s what I’ve found helpful:

Before facing something hard: Imagine the best-case scenario. And the worst.

Then, instead of stressing about the outcome, Focus only on what’s in your control: How you prepare. How you show up. How you act.

When you make space for the possibility of “not succeeding,” You free your energy for what really matters. The doing. The being.

No drama. No pressure. Not always easy, but so worth it.

Let’s take a concrete example: Say you have the most important job interview of your life.

You’re nervous, understandably. And that might throw you off.

So what can you do?

Mentally prepare for both outcomes. Imagine it goes amazingly well. And imagine not getting the job.

Not to give up. And not because thoughts create reality.

But because it releases the fear of “what if I fail?” That part isn’t in your hands anyway.

What is in your hands: Is preparing fully. Showing up ready.

Focus on that. That’s your superpower.

The “no” is already a given. So you have nothing to lose. Just give it your best.

I know, it’s not intuitive. But it’s powerful. And it’s worth trying.

I think that’s enough to chew on for now 🙂

If you’ve made it this far, thank you. Truly.

I hope this brought you something: A new perspective, some peace, Or just a quiet little smile.

And if you feel like sharing what it stirred in you: I’m here. Always happy to hear from you.

Wishing you a weekend full of breath, presence, And that soft smile from within.
