Is Your Body Trying to Tell You Something You're Missing?
There’s something a little strange about our bodies. They are talking to us all the time, but most of us have become quite good at not listening.
Sometimes it whispers: a bit of tiredness. Sometimes it clears its throat, make tension in the neck, heaviness in the stomach, or a small ache in the shoulder.
And when we really ignore it, it starts raising its voice… and that’s usually when things become much less pleasant.
I see this all the time in the clinic: People come in for treatment and tell me, “It suddenly started,” seemingly for no reason.
But when we pause for a moment and listen to the body, it often turns out it has been sending signals for quite some time.
The good news is that this connection hasn’t been lost. It’s just a little rusty.
And the beautiful thing is that it can come back - gently, without great effort, simply with a bit of attention.
A Small Story from the Clinic
Not long ago, a patient came to see me with recurring neck pain.
He had already tried many things: tests, physiotherapy, creams...
During one of the treatments I asked him a question: “When was the last time you noticed that you keep lifting your shoulders all the time?”
He paused for a moment, smiled, and said: “Probably… right now.”
Since then, he started noticing it throughout the day. Not forcing himself to fix it - just noticing.
And each time he noticed his shoulders rising, he gently let them drop.
Sometimes simply listening is already a big part of the treatment.
A Small Myth About the Body
There’s a fairly common myth: that the body is a bit like a machine, and when it breaks, you simply fix it.
But in reality, the body works more like a smart system that is constantly trying to rebalance itself.
Sometimes what looks like a “problem” is actually the body’s attempt to cope with overload, tension, or fatigue.
When you begin to look at it this way, your relationship with your body can change completely.
Tip of the Week – One Minute of Listening to the Body
Here’s a small exercise I invite you to try this week.
Once a day, take just one minute.
No complicated meditation. No special practice.
Just pause for a moment, scan your body, and ask:
How do I feel right now?
Where in my body is there a sense of ease?
Where is there a small tension?
If my body could ask for something right now, what would it be?
Sometimes the answer will be, water. Sometimes movement. Sometimes a deep breath.
And sometimes simply… a moment of rest.
It sounds simple, but sometimes that one minute can change the whole day.
A Warm Closing
Our body is not only a sophisticated biological system.
It’s also a kind of compass.
The more we learn to listen to it, the more we begin to move through the world a little differently. with more ease, more precision, and a little less struggle.
And if you’d like a bit of help along the way - My clinic is always here.
Wishing you a calm week, with small moments of listening to your body.
Yours, Zohar
